आज भारत सरकार गाँधी के विचारो पर चलते हुए देश को और देश की अर्थव्यवस्था को आगे ले जाने का प्रयास कर रहे है. जिसका सबसे अच्छा उदहारण है भारत सरकार की आत्मनिर्भर भारत योजना. महात्मा गाँधी जी के विचार थे की भारत को भविष्य में हर उद्योग और अपनी जरुरत के लिए आत्मनिर्भर बनाना.
- गांधी जी इकोनॉमी का ऐसा मॉडल चाहते थे जिसमें गांव-गांव तक उद्योग हों, गरीब-अमीर के बीच असमानता खत्म हो और हर व्यक्ति के पास रोजगार हो. इकोनॉमी के बारे में उनके प्रमुख विचार इस प्रकार हैं:
*कुटीर उद्योग (MSME) का विकास:
गाँधी जी देश में बड़े उद्योगों के मुकाबले कुटीर उद्योग और माध्यम उद्योगों के विकास पर बल देना चाहते थे उनके विचार थे की देश का कुटीर उद्योग देश के विकास में सहायक है क्युकी ये उद्योग देश के लोगो को आत्मनिर्भर बनाते है और उनके स्वावलम्बन की भावना को जाग्रत करते है. और वर्त्तमान में भारत सरकार गाँधी जी के इस विचार को आगे बढ़ाते हुए MSME को आगे बड़ा रही है . जिसमे हजारो छोटे उद्योग विकसित किये गए है . वर्त्तमान में MSME गाँधी जी के कुटीर उद्योग का सबसे अच्छा उदहारण है. और MSME को विकास की रफ़्तार देने के लिए सरकार द्वारा चलायी गयी योजनाए .

आत्मनिर्भर भारत
आजादी के पहले देश में उद्योग पर ब्रिटेन की कंपनियों का कब्जा था. भारत में कच्चा माल बनता और इन कच्चा माल के आधार पर ब्रिटेन के उद्योग में तैयार माल को भारत के लोगों को उपभोग के लिए मजबूर किया जाता. ब्रिटेन के औद्योगिक क्रांति में भारत के श्रम और संसाधनों का बहुत योगदान था. इस देश का करोड़ों रुपया पूरतरह से चूसकर ब्रिटेन भेजा जा रहा था. गांधी जी ने इसके खिलाफ देश को आत्मनिर्भर बनाने के लिए स्वेदशी अपनाने पर जोर दिया था
महात्मा गाँधी चाहते थे की देश आजादी के बाद अपनी जरूरतों के लिए किसी अन्य पर निर्भर न रहे और आत्मनिर्भर बने. क्युकी अत्मनिर्भर भारत ही विकास का एक समुचित पैमाना हो सकता है. और सरकार आज देश में गाँधी जी के उसी विचार का अनुसरण करके आत्मनिर्भर भारत बनाने की और अग्रसर है . जिसको आज हम मेक इन इंडिया मूवमेंट के नाम से जानते है . देश को हर प्रकार से आत्मनिर्भर बनाने के लिए भारत सरकार आज जोर शोर से आगे बढ़ रही है और सफलता की ऊंचाइयों को भी छू रही है . देश को स्वरोजगार से जोड़ने और आत्मनिर्भर बनाने के लिए भारत सरकार आज बहुत सी सहयोग योजनाए संचालित कर रही है जो कुछ इस प्रकार से है .
